last three decades corporate pork producers have
bred their hogs much leaner, making them more profitable
by getting rid of back fat (since there is no longer
a good market for lard). Unfortunately, the practice
has reduced marbling, resulting in lean but tough
and often bland pork. This is the reason why the
industry began pumping water and sodium into its
meat; these additives are necessary to provide an
acceptable eating experience. Maverick Ranch Natural
Pork farmers realize the need to provide a product
that is healthy as well as tasty and tender. By carefully
selecting the breeding stock, we have been able to
produce a nutritionally superior natural pork that

NO WATER ADDED
The majority of regular pork available
today has been injected or pumped with water and
phosphates to increase the pork's weight and shelf
life. Maverick Ranch does not permit "pumping" in
its natural pork, so you can be assured that you
are not paying extra for water and that no preservatives
are added. Current research indicates that preservatives
in our food supply are likely having a negative long-term
effect on our health.
COOKING MAVERICK RANCH NATURAL PORK
Most people have a tendency to overcook
pork for perceived safety reasons. This is no longer
necessary with today's improved safety measures.
Provided the internal temperature of the meat reaches
160 degrees F, pork can safely be cooked to medium
(still pink inside). Try it! You'll be surprised
at the difference in juiciness and flavor!

American Heart Association. To qualify for the Food Certification Program, a
pork cut must meet USDA Extra Lean guidelines, which are
as follows:
1. Less than 5g of fat*
2. Less than 2g of saturated fat.*
3. Less than 95mg of cholesterol*

Maverick Ranch Pork Sausages start as 85% Lean Natural
Pork, much leaner than the industry average. Like
all our products, they contain no preservatives and
are completely nitrate and nitrite free. A rich blend
of natural seasonings is added, delivering just the
right amount of powerful flavor to each of our sausage
varieties, which include Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Italian
and Spicy Italian, Chorizo, Breakfast sausage, Polish
sausage and more. All our sausages are encased in
natural hog casings, not man-made casings. Our Fruitwood-Smoked
Bacon is made with real maple syrup and also contains
no nitrates or preservatives. These products too
